Oh So Quiet is the second shawl in the Alt Shawls collection.

This quirky, serpentine, narrow shawl is knit on the bias from side-to-side with a bunting-like edging, using fingering weight yarns.

Pattern is provided as written directions and charts (choose whichever you prefer). If you wish to make a more traditional triangular-shaped shawl, directions are also provided.

A great way to use up odds and ends of your favourite and-dyed yarns!

Use one colour, two colours, or lots and lots of colours! Ideas and inspiration for multicolour versions:

Think about…

  • your favourite hand-dyed yarns
  • leftovers from other scrappy projects
  • a sampler of colourways for yarnies and hand-dyers
  • school colours
  • sports team colours
  • national colours

Oh So Quiet is a nod to the 1995 Björk cover of “It’s Oh So Quiet”.

The multicolour version shown is knit in Viola Sock in Chimney Smoke with oddments of 10 other colours. The solid colour version shown is knit in Zen Yarn Garden Serenity 20.

Thank you to tech editor Chaitanya Muralidhara, fantastic test knitters Andrea (littleknitmissy), Andrea (vineyardlady), and Karina (karinamaza). Thank you also to my mom (uniquelyuylond) for knitting the Grape Stone version.
