Meet Oisin Owl a little pattern I designed  that  allows knitters to learn cables in a small project.Oisin is a cute little three dimensional aran owl, a great little stash buster for scraps of yarn or odd balls.

This little cutie practically designed himself. He appeared in the knitting when I was working up a sampler for a cable and aran workshop I was preparing to teach, so I extracted him, knitted him up again and designed the back to complete Oisin Owl as a three dimensional toy, bag charm or pocket pal.

If you want to try cables, and some other Aran stitches Oisin Owl is a great place to start. He is knitted flat then sewn together using mattress stitch. He can be lightly stuffed and safety eyes for knitted toys added for extra personality.

Of course he is so cute that it’s not just new knitters who knit him!

Originally written flat and sewn, Oisin Owl pattern now has instructions for both knitted flat version and knitted in the round! two patterns in one.

Knit just the front panel of Oisin Owl to create a great motif to sew onto all sorts of garments and home accessories.

Vary the size by using a different weight of yarn and needles about 2 sizes smaller than the size generally recommended for that yarn. Maybe use super chunky yarn to create an adorable Oisin Owl Cushion.
