Old School Golf Club Covers
This pattern creates a nicely fitted cover with a slim profile. Knit in the round, they work up quickly, have minimal finishing (no seams!) and are great stash busters.
Notes on Yarn: This pattern was creating using Diamond (Plymouth) Galway Worsted and Galway Chunky yarns but will work just about any medium (4) weight yarn (used doubled) or a single strand of bulky (5) weight yarn.
Choose a yarn that can stand up to some wear & tear: acrylic, wool, or wool blends are good choices. Avoid roving style yarns and more delicate fibres like alpaca.
One ball of yarn should yield at least 2 covers, possibly more, depending on the sizes knit and the yarn brand.
Worsted (4) yarn (use 2 strands): 1 ball in desired color(s) of Diamond or Plymouth Galway Worsted or similar yarn. If using worsted, use both ends of the ball or wind off half the skein into a second ball (or purchase 2 balls of yarn).
Bulky (5) yarn: 1 ball in desired color(s) of Diamond or Plymouth Galway Chunky or similar yarn.
Needles: One set of four 7mm (US 10.75) double pointed needles (dpns) or size needed to obtain gauge.
Gauge: 4 stitches and 5 rows per 1” (2.5cm).
Size: Sizing is provided in the format S (M; L) for small (hybrid club), medium (fairway wood), and large (driver) headcovers.
Techniques: Old Norwegian cast on (or other stretchy cast on), knitting in the round, purl, k2tog, make one.
