This is a pattern that I use for my beginning lace class to teach my students the basics of lace knitting.

As a bonus, I have also included instructions for a Modified Feather and Fan, which incorporates the SSK for a left leaning decrease.

The knitter has the choice of knitting the Traditional Feather and Fan, or the Modified Feather and Fan that gives a little bit of symmetry.

This is an excellent lace pattern for a confident
beginner. This pattern is knit over 18 stitches with a
4 row pattern repeat. Confident Knitting Beginners
can help themselves keep track of the pattern in each
row by using a stitch marker between each 18 pattern
stitch section.
