This select pattern was included in the 2019 Indie Design Gift-A-Long!

I found this curious little book full of cross stitch border patterns between the old needlework things from my sweet old neighbor lady. It’s from a German magazine, and most of the borders use up to 4 colours. I’ve chosen a few and drawn them out to make them work with only 2 colours, and since there was a challenge this past October in our Dutch sock group to design your own socks I decided this had to work.

After knitting half of the first sock I realized that the pattern would also make awesome legwarmers, and if I cast on a multiple amount of stitches it could also work out great for a colourful cowl.

Bonus pattern Yes! The instructions for the legwarmer or bootcuffs is included as an extra page to the sock pattern. They haven’t been tested yet, but that will be done soon when the kal in our Dutch Karma group starts. So if there are any corrections I will update the pattern asap.

The heel on the socks is a yo-yo heel with info about the German short row heel. If you aren’t acquainted with this heel I’d suggest having a look at YouTube, there are plenty of good videos explaining the technique. You may always replace this heel with any other heel that you prefer.
