This hat starts at the top by making two I-cords long enough to tie together, forming a bow. The crown of the hat is a continuation of these 2 I-cords, creating the wedges for the crown, in stockinette stitch. The brim continues in the Basketweave Stitch. The earflaps are the continuation and extension of the brim, worked in garter stitch, and one flap at a time. Each flap ends with another I-cord which will form the ties for the hat.

Using a variegated yarn will add another interesting dimension to the hat and scarf set, but any yarn that will give the same gauge can be used.
