I used Knit Picks “Chroma Twist Worsted” for this design, though Lion Brand “Ferris Wheel” is a great choice too!

Add a splash of color to your life with these adorable knitted shorts! Made with Knit Picks “Chroma Twist Worsted” this 2-ply yarn offers a gorgeous gradient effect, and comes in a variety of shades so you can pick your fave. Whether you are going out or staying in, this design is guaranteed to turn heads while keeping you as comfy as can be!

These shorts are knitted as one piece in the round from the top down, with the waistband knit using the smallest (3mm) needle to ensure it is snug on your waist so you won’t need anything extra to keep them up. The waistband is then folded and joined with options to insert elastic or add eyelets for a drawstring if you desire. The shorts are then knitted until the crotch where the legs are separated and knit one at a time. The length of the inseam is totally custom to you to suit your comfort level. A fold over bottom band is then knitted and joined to the inside of the shorts using a 3-needle bind off for a seamless finish, with the option to make the bottom band a picot hem, or bind off the band and join it by hand if preferred.

As there are various needle circumferences and needle sizes used throughout this design, it will be easiest if you have an interchangeable circular needle set to knit these shorts.

A full page photo tutorial is included for how to knit the short rows, as well as links to tutorials for all techniques used.
