This is a robust bag designed for everyday use. It has reinforcement in the base and the sides and a magnetic closure. Instructions are included for adding a lining.
The bottom is worked in rows then stitches are picked up around the base to work the body in the round. The pattern uses two strands of yarn throughout with varying combinations to give the ombre effect.
As well as a pair of wooden handles, a thin crocheted handle can be used to keep the bag on the shoulder.

The bag is approximately 22cm (8¾in) wide and 17cm (6½in) high without handles.
The base is 22cm (8¾in) by 5cm (2in).
The wooden handles measure 20cm (8in) by 6cm (2½in) - available at coolwool.net.
The long handle is 114cm (45in) long and is designed to be attached so that it can be hidden inside the bag if only the short handles are used. The handle can be made to any length.

UK terms are used throughout the pattern, equivalent US terms are listed in the abbreviations.
