Any gauge - designed for any gauge ?
English

These beginner-friendly fingerless mitts do it all for us. Easy to knit and even easier to wear, they can be solid, or any combination of colors. Use the rarest, most precious skein in your stash, or a workhorse yarn. We defy anyone to hold an Omnimitt without sliding it on; they are irresistible.

The sample in the “Knitstrips” book used yarn by Jill Draper (@jillmakesstuff).

IK Approach
This is a pattern from the book, “Knitstrips – The World’s First Comic Strip Knitting Book.” It uses an approach we call “Interactive Knitting” or “IK”. IK patterns are yarn neutral. They contain all the information and details to create the design, while allowing the knitter creative freedom as to yarn selection, gauge, measurements, and proportions.

The knitter starts with the yarn of their choice and determines their preferred gauge (which is specific for each yarn/knitting needle pairing). Using the gauge and individual body measurements, the pattern then guides construction, techniques, and finishing of the piece. While the pattern does not specify an amount of yarn, a yardage calculator (available online or via phone apps) will get you in the ballpark.

IK patterns celebrate your point of view, and we can’t wait to see your one-of-a-kind projects!
