A Hat of Compassion: The Story Behind the Toque

I created the pattern “One Heart, One Leaf” to support the families facing such tragic loss in Tumbler Ridge, BC, Canada. Please donate, download, knit and wear your hat on Feb 26 & Mar 10, 2026. Post your photo(s) and messages of support to Tumbler Ridge on your social media to show our love and support for Tumbler Ridge. Post of pages like Fans of Ravelry 2.0.

I have provided a link to the pdf file for this pattern. I have not set a fee in hopes you will show your support to the community of Tumbler Ridge. See links to DONATE provided in the pdf.

The Blue and white pom pom represents the school colours for Tumbler Ridge Secondary. While the red and white are all about Canada and love. The Coureur de Bois (Voyageur) styled toque is a nod to our unique Canadianism.

The pattern is inspired by the community’s needs and the recent success of the MTL hat project. It shows us that a simple hat can become a powerful symbol of love and resilience. May it serve as a symbol of our shared compassion, and opportunity to help support the community’s local fundraising.

Happy Knitting, RosieKnittrGrl
