Created by Sauron in the fires of Mount Doom and infused with his soul, the One Ring was crafted with the intent of giving the wearer full power over Middle-Earth. A deceptively simple golden band, when placed in fire, the inscription, “One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them,” was visible. In addition to the One Ring, nineteen other rings were forged and given to the Elves, Dwarves, and Men. With the lesser rings’ powers linked to Sauron, he bequeathed them to the rulers of the other races to control them and bow to his reign.

One cowl to rule them all! Inspired by the all-powerful, golden One Ring and worked flat, this cowl is double knit, meaning the work has no visible wrong side, will have twice the thickness, and the colors will invert. Begun with a provisional cast on, the cowl is worked back and forth in rows before the live edges are grafted together to form a seamless loop, much like a ring. The knitted text translates to “One Ring to rule them all,” and you’ll be the ruler of your domain while wearing it!
