This is a pattern for standard gauge knitting machines using 4 PLY YARN 
(FINGERING YARNS 2/12 (3/18) - 2/8 (3/12) / 4 PLY YARN). 
(n/b: this is the most popular coned yarn for standard gauge knitting machines & most commonly referred to in British patterns. Recommend use of mini-wax cone when using yarn bought by the skein or ball.)
