Ready to step into your bejeweled era? The Opalite Hat knits up quickly with chunky mineral inspired yarns and big needles. No need to be sleepless in the onyx night because you’ll finish this hat in plenty of time before bed!

This pattern is aimed at adventurous beginners and intermediate knitters. You’ll be knitting in the round and incorporating both cable knitting and stranded colourwork.

Yarn used:
Scheepjes Stone Washed Minerals XXL, a brand new yarn by Scheepjes with 90m/100g making it Super Chunky. 58% Cotton, 42% Acrylic.

Recommended needle size:
7mm for the brim
8mm for the rest of the hat

There is a video tutorial for this hat, step by step from cast on to cast off! The pattern itself is both written out and charted.

Gauge
1 repeat of the cable pattern measures 8cm in width (just over 3”)
2 repeats of the cable pattern measure 9cm in length (3.5”)

Since this hat knits up so quickly, it will be roughly the same amount of effort to just cast on the hat and see how it goes, as it would be to knit a gauge swatch in the round.
