The ripple stitch (aka chevron) is a timeless design element. The Open and Shut Ripple blanket is crocheted with alternating sections of solid and openwork ripple stitch. It creates a lightweight gift for the summer months and warmth in the winter. This blanket doesn’t require a border because the ripple stitch has enough design interest all its own. However, you can add pompoms or tassels for a bit more fun!

Lion Brand’s “Mandala – Baby” partners beautifully with this stitch pattern. Requiring only 2 cakes, it works up quickly and doesn’t cost a lot to make. The colors in this ombré yarn take all the guesswork out of choosing just the right color combination for that special little girl or boy. It also makes a great travel project when you can’t be without your crochet!
