This free pattern is really just my project notes typed up and cleaned up a bit. A novice may struggle with the sparse instructions. A confident knitter may choose to continue on increasing and make themselves a top-down raglan jacket or vest, as I intend to.

Supplies:

  • approx 30g or Schoppel Alpaka Queen or comparable aran yarn. You’ll want something with body to it so the neckband doesn’t flop.
  • US 6 / 4mm needles, either straight or any length circular
  • US 8 / 5mm circular needles, at least 25”
  • 6 buttons, no larger than 1cm
  • Optional: T-pins to help with blocking

Sized for a 14” neck with approximately 2” positive ease.

With simple wood buttons I can see Jo March wearing this; with fanciful ones I can see Amy. Meg might opt to change colours for the edging for a modest feminine appearance. Beth, I think, would opt to soften the look with bits of scrap ribbon as ties.

This is a free pattern made during spare time, and thus has not been test knitted or tech edited. Any helpful notes project knitters can provide would be most welcome.
