This cowl is the second pattern in my collection Östergyllen. The flower in the pattern is cornflower. Cornflower is the landscape flower of Östergötland.

Östergötland is located on the east coast at the Baltic Sea in the middle of Sweden.
The first pattern I made was for Östergyllen Socks. There will be three more patterns in this collection, half mittens, a beanie and a sweater.

Östergötland has beautiful lakes, large forests and fertile arable land. There are in the fields where the farmers grow different cereals you often find the corn flower.

Östergyllen cowl is worked top down. It is knitted in 2-thread wool and start with a rib and continue with stockinette stitch and have a chart to follow for the cornflowers. If you would like a cowl with bigger circumference you just knit more pattern repeats.

Size: with 6 pattern repeats circumference 60 cm (23,6 inches) Length: 25 cm (9,8 inches)
With 8 pattern repeats circumference approx 80 cm (31,5 inches)

If you prefer you can also knit the cowl in Kid Silk Mohair with 2 threads and you will then have a circumference approx 73cm (25,1 inches) Length: 26,5 cm (10,24 inches). There are directions in the pattern.

Needles: Circular needles 2,5 and 3 mm (US1,5 and US2,5), 60 cm (24 inches)

Gauge: 23 sts x 32 rnds = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 inches)

Materials: 2-thread wool from Ölands Ullcentrum 300m(328 yds)/100 g or other 2-thread yarns that have the same m(yds)/100 g.
50 g 6/2-0103 middle grey, 30 g 6/2-4163 dark blue Gotland.
