Juneau, the capital of Alaska, is only accessible by way of ferry or airplane. “Out the road” is a colloquial term for an area that extends from northwest of downtown Juneau, near the ferry dock and airport, northwest to Echo Cove, where the main road ends. While the weather is generally better than the rest of Juneau, it still rains more than half the year— the perfect place for qiviut socks!
