If the warm weather’s over … Here’s an over the head, over-sized, and an over-comfortable sweater for throwing on when you need to feel enveloped with wool. Watch it snow, drink some tea and scoot closer to the fire. Over’s ready for you! The lofty, light texture of Lopi, a bulky-weight single-ply wool, creates a draped, light effect when knitted on larger needles, but each air pocket holds in warmth.

This bottom-up pullover’s knit in the round, requiring knitting, purling, decreases, and a three needle bind-off if you like. The sleeve length is designed to hit at the wrist bone (to avoid getting in your soup!) but can be easily adjusted for a personalized fit. It’s an ideal first sweater.

Over is meant to have a lot of ease, roughly 12-14”, but is flexible. Looking to reduce stash? Two strands of worsted or four strands of sport weight yarn may be just the ticket—knit a gauge swatch and wash it first to double check.

Accessibility Note: This pattern offers an additional Low Vision pdf option, with Arial 24 point sans serif font in all black text and photo captions. It has no italics. All of the directions are fully written out. If there’s a chart included, there are also written instructions- the chart is not needed to complete the pattern.
