I-cord edging, a one-row buttonhole and stylish large button, and an I-cord bind off elevate a simple garter-stitch scarf into a warm and woolly button-up neck muffler.

Sample shown in Imperial Yarns Columbia 2 Ply in colour 02 - Pearl Gray, with a button approximately 2 inches square.

A note about yarn choices: I used Imperial Yarn’s Columbia, a worsted weight yarn with incredible body and loft. In general, worsted weight yarns will not have enough… “oomph” to be knit to this gauge. A hearty aran weight yarn will work nicely, or even going up to a chunky gauge yarn may give you a good result.

The finished size of this cowl is easily adjustable. If the scarf is made either wider or longer, additional yarn will be required.
