The oversized simple sweater vest is a modern, basic staple for your wardrobe - all year round! Layer up with a shirt underneath when it’s cooler or go bare armed on warmer days. Pair it with smart trousers, jeans, joggers, shorts or even over a dress. Everyone needs a simple knit vest in their wardrobe. I reach for mine so often I made it in 3 colours!

This pattern was born because my original simple sweater vests (see pattern here: https://www.jeggocrochet.com/allpatterns/p/simple-sweater...) no longer fit me at 6 months pregnant. So I decided to make an oversized version that would accommodate my growing body but also look cute in the future too. In the photos I am pregnant but my gorgeous mum is modelling a size small in the beige version! I am wearing a medium (navy) / large (mauve) to accommodate my bump.

This knitting pattern is suitable for advanced beginners. You need to know skills such as knit, knit 2 together, ssk, purl, purl 2 together, picking up stitches and simple seaming.

This knit pattern has available sizes from XS - 5XL, suitable for bust sizes 28 - 62”

There are lots of photos included throughout the pattern to help you along the way!

You will need:

  • DK / size 3 weight yarn from 630 - 1295 yards. More details are included in the pattern.

  • 4.5mm circular knitting needles with 80cm cable OR size needed to obtain gauge.

  • optional 4.5mm DPN’s for the neckline and arm cuffs, or you can switch to a shorter cable (40/60cm). I personally used circular needles for the whole project and then just did the magic loop technique for the arms and neck.

  • yarn needle

  • scissors

  • stitch marker

  • measuring tape
