This deceptively simple shawl, worked from the center outward, is just the thing for showing off pretty hand-painted or luxury yarns.

One skein is all you need for the smaller version (two for the large) and it’s particularly suitable for busy yarns with multiple short color repeats.

The stitch pattern, varied enough to keep the knitter’s interest yet easy to memorize, sets up an array of twisted-stitch stripes, which magically become distinctive laddered channels when stitches are dropped and unraveled - intentionally!
