I’ve been happy to see all the owl-motif knit objects out there and I wanted to add my own owl to the parliament. I also was in need of a medium-sized bag for everyday toting and had a very cool antique purse handle to make use of, so that’s how this design came about.

For yarn, I used a bulky cotton mix from Schoeller & Stahl. The cotton is so soft, and the acrylic adds strength for everyday wear and tear. The purse required five 50g/55m balls.

For additional materials, this pattern calls for a purse handle, 6 buttons, and a couple of twigs. The purse handle is optional as purse could be constructed without it. There is also the option of crocheting the bag pieces together or stitching, whichever you prefer. I like the crochet edge because it gives the bag a bit more of a structured edge.
