The inspiration for the Owls in the Forest Hat design was from the Cable Factors Vol 1: Mirror Images e-book (2016) by stitch designer Annie Maloney.

In the headband stitch design, mirrored cables are framed in a diamond-shaped trellis of mirrored cables. The pattern reminded me of owls looking out from ‘tree holes’. The addition of beads gives them glimmering eyes. A forest of ‘tree trunks’ in wide ribbing is used for the Main Hat pattern.

Special Features of the design:
The hat features a Toasty Triple Layer Headband – two layers of ribbing folded with the outer headband pattern for extra warmth. (see sample of hat laid out in full in left side photos, shows inside of headband).
The hat top is worked in ribbing, a Cosy Ribbed Topper, again adding extra warmth against winter winds.
