OXFORD SOCKS with German short-row toes & heels

One more smart little sock joins our roster of basic sock patterns. With a super-easy short-row shaping method at the toe and heel, it’s easy to master, easy to remember, easy to start and easy to finish! Introduced at the 2019 LYS Tour, we’ve had great fun playing with variations ever since. Herewith, a few fun ideas.

F I N I S H E D S I Z E S
Medium-width adult: Up to 10”/25cm foot on 8”/20cm cuff. For longer foot, knit shorter cuffs or purchase more yarn. Note: Finished sock length should be ½“/1.25cm shorter than actual foot length measured from back of heel to tip of toe.

YARN
Approx. 400 yds/366m fingering-weight sock yarn (includes approx. 14yds/13m for contrasting toe and heel). Add or subtract 22yds/20m per knitted 1”/2.5cm per pair.

Note: Choose a yarn with some nylon and high twist for long-lasting, hard-wearing socks.

Charcoal Ankle socks: 1 skein Regia Premium Merino Yak (437 yds/400m each), Color 7512.

Red/Gold socks: 2 skeins Regia Premium Merino Yak (437 yds/400m each), 1 skein each Color MC = 7507 and CC = 7504.

Multi-color Ankle socks: 1 skein Manos Alegria (445 yds/405m each), Color 8917, Butia.

Charcoal/Rust socks: Lang Jawoll Superwash (230 yds/210m each), 2 skeins Color MC = 0137 and 1 skein CC = 0275.
