This stitch pattern from Hitomi Shida’s book, 250 Japanese Knitting Stitches, reminds me of the beautiful pagoda structures seen throughout East Asia. The stitch has a lot going on, with twisted ribbing, lace and scallops…but nothing too difficult when you take it one round at a time! This pattern is written for both worsted weight and fingering weight, and is perfect for those gradient packs that are popular right now, as well as partial skeins we all have in our stashes! Solid to semisolid yarns are recommended so that the fancy stitch work is the star. Pattern includes notes on resizing the cowl and knitting it in any weight yarn.
