Painted Memory is part of the Memory Tree Collection, a collection of four patterns, three individual and an exclusive pattern - not available to purchase alone.

Inspired by the wonderful voice of Norah Jones, who often sings to me when I am knitting, Painted Memory is a deep crescent/semi circular shawl that is knit from the top down. There is a lace panel in the centre and an all over stripe with a pretty, slightly ruffled border, both of which can be enlarged or reduced to individualise your shawl.

Designed to use two yarns, a plain sport weight yarn and a variegated silk mohair, it is a wonderful cuddle of a shawl without being heavy and cumbersome.

The original was knit in Handmaiden Cashmere 4ply and Sparkleduck Tempest though this versatile shawl could be knit in any sport weight yarn in either one all over colour or using a contrast yarn (or yarns) for the stripes.

I used 540m of sport weight yarn (Yarn A) and 305m of the contrasting fuzzy yarn (Yarn B) though the pattern can be enlarged should you wish to - remember yardage requirements will increase.

It will be very useful to print this pattern using a colour printer as the colour changes have been colour coded on the charts.

This pattern has full written instructions and is fully charted.

If you like my designs please join us in the Boo Group where you will find a place to discuss my patterns, show off your knitting and hear about KALs and MKALs.

Patterns already set up by KnitCompanion can be purchased, in the KnitCompanion Store, for knitters who like to use KnitCompanion, but prefer to have their charts already set up.
