When you’ve made many socks, it’s natural to look around for a similar project, but perhaps a little more ambitious in scale. So Cherry Tree Hill presents these Pantaloonies, or leggings: “you’ll be the coolest girl in yoga class,” promises Schmidt. They start identically to socks, with the lower cuffs. You knit up the legs, increasing as you go, and working the appropriate fair isle charts on the way. Join the legs together and finish the garment up to the waist; insert an elastic waistband into the casing, graft the crotch, and you have the classiest legs around. Literally.
