Winding its way through high mountain peaks and deep valleys, the Okanagan Connector travels through the plains-like rangeland of the Thomson Plateau before plunging steeply through Paradise Valley, where travellers get their first glimpse of the awe-inspiring beauty of Okanagan Lake.

Paradise Valley is a three colour, top down, triangle shawl with squishy texture, contrasting stripes, and a cabled tree motif inspired by the subalpine forests of the Thompson Plateau.

MATERIALS

Yarn/Yardage: worsted weight yarn. Approx. 185y/170m (65g) each for Colour A and Colour B, and 240y/220m (85g) for Colour C.

Sample: shown in West Coast Colour Home Grown (100% Canadian CVM/Romeldale; 3 ply woollen spun; 157y/144m per 56g), using Undyed (Colour A), Enderby (Colour B) and Seymour Arm (Colour C).

The sample yarn is a beautifully airy woollen spun yarn. Substituting with a worsted spun yarn will result in a heavier, yet equally beautiful shawl, and will require more than the listed yarn weights for each colour. Substituting based on yardage requirements will be a more accurate estimation.

Needles: 5.5mm (US 9) 40” circular needle, or size needed to obtain gauge.

Notions: stitch markers, cable needle, darning needle.

GAUGE

16 st over 4” / 10cm in stockinette stitch, after blocking.

A different gauge will affect finished measurements and yardage requirements.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS

72” / 183cm across by 24.5” / 62cm deep, after blocking.
