Paradox Sweater
The Paradox Sweater is inspired by the Banach-Tarski Paradox which is explained on the last page of this pattern if you are interested. But the sweater is constructed using modified raglan shaping to achieve a cozy and oversized fit. The neckline is shaped by working the sweater flat and increasing for the front rather than using short rows. The entire sweater is worked from the top down and stitches are picked up at the end to create the folded neckline.
The Paradox Sweater is designed to be very oversized and due to the large number of stitches in the pattern repeat, there are only 3 sizes available. However, this pattern can be modified easily by changing your gauge and there are charts available in the pattern to guide you through choosing a gauge.
For a 19 st x 20 row gauge, the finished bust circumference in the sweater is 84 (126) 168 cm OR 33 (49.5) 66 inch. The yarn quantities required are:
MC: 575 (750) 1000 m OR 625 (800) 1075 yds
CC: 525 (675) 900 m or 575 (725) 1000 yds
For a 21 st x 24 row gauge, the finished bust circumference in the sweater is 76 (114) 152 cm OR 30 (45) 60 inch. The yarn quantities required are:
MC: 525 (760) 975 m OR 575 (830) 1070 yds
CC: 500 (725) 925 m OR 545 (790) 1015 yds
