Parallel Mittens
Featuring flowing lines of colourwork that create a geometric design, the Parallel Mittens are a great project for fans of stranded colourwork and include a folded cuff for a neat edge and extra warmth. Knitted in DK weight yarn, these mittens are surprisingly quick to knit, with no long floats to catch. The pattern has a wide range of sizes with options to modify the hand and thumb lengths.
Sizing
Sizes: 1 (2, 3, 4, 5, 6)
Intended to fit a hand circumference of: 6.5 (7, 7.5, 8, 8.5, 9)” / 16.5 (18, 19, 20, 21.5, 23) cm
Finished hand circumference: 7.5 (8, 8.5, 8.5, 9.5, 10)” / 19 (20, 21.5, 21.5, 24, 25.5) cm
These mittens are designed to be worn with 0.5-1” / 1.25-2.5 cm of positive ease.
If you’re between sizes and neither will give you an amount of ease in the recommended range, I suggest choosing the larger size.
To measure the circumference of your hand measure your palm horizontally just below your knuckles (at the widest part of your hand), keeping your fingers relaxed.
The sample mittens are shown in size 1 on 6.5” / 16.5 cm circumference hands.
Take a look at the schematic in the pattern images for more sizing details.
