This top is worked in-the-round, from the top-down, with a square yoke and raglan sleeves. There are no seams! I used a recycled cotton thread (3 ply) from a thrifted sweater for my chartreuse samples. I used size 8 crochet cotton for the rainbow striped top (pictured below). A heavier yarn will produce a heavier, larger top. A ribbed band is optional at the bottom of the body and the cuffs of the sleeves. The sleeve length can vary from cap, short, three-quarter, or long sleeves. Even though the top is worked in-the-round, there will be four sections: a front panel, back panel, and two side (sleeve) panels, each separated by a front-post treble crochet (fptr). The panels increase in the yoke by working two pairs of treble crochets (tr) either side of the fptr. This means that while working the yoke, each panel increases in width by four stitches. If you prefer skinnier sleeves, then you might wish to only increase with one pair of treble crochet stitches in the sleeve panels. The XL wider sleeves increases with 3 pairs of treble crochet in the sleeve panels. If you do not like the look of the raglan sleeve ‘lines,’ then use a regular treble crochet instead of the front post. As it is made-to-measure, try the top on regularly get the fit you want (especially underarm, body length, and sleeve length). This top is very customizable!
