PARKER Bucket Hat
PARKER melds modern street style and vintage cloche.
Made in pure wool on a standard gauge punchcard or electronic knitting machine, a ribber is not required. Knit from the bottom up, pintucks define the hat sections. A Fair Isle pattern is used to give weight to the fabric resulting in a hat that softly holds its shape. Flexible adult sizing is controlled by the fulling and blocking process and should fit loosely on the head. Fair Isle charts included. Video link included for pintuck technique.
Machine: Any standard gauge machine with punchcard or electronic capabilities to knit Fair Isle. No ribber required.
Techniques Used: Fair Isle patterning, stockinette, marking rows with ravel cord, making pintucks, decreasing stitches from a garter bar or waste yarn, mattress stitch.
Briggs & Little Sport, 100% wool,1 ply, 393m (430 yds)/113 grams/4oz. (roughly 12 wpi) OR any wool of similar weight (NOT Superwash).

Please Note: Using the right wool is more important than the gauge, which is given as a guide, since the finishing process determines the final size.
