As nubbly and comforting as a bowl of porridge, these socks provide plenty of stick-to-your-ribs wooly goodness to see you through the short winter days (and long winter nights).

This pattern is knit toe-up using the Turkish cast-on and a wrapped short row heel. Skills required include Turkish cast-on, knit, purl, short-row heel, and cast off. To perform the Turkish cast-on you MUST use two circular needles.

This pattern allows you to insert the heel after working any length of foot, making it easily adjustable and customizable for the intended wearer.

The pattern incorporates a contrasting toe, heel, and ribbing. You will need approximately 25 grams of contrast yarn and no more than 75 grams of main color yarn to knit a pair of socks to fit an average woman’s foot.
