Pastel Crush was designed around a simple idea: a knitting pattern can offer structure while still leaving plenty of room for creativity.

Rather than chasing perfect stitches or identical results, this pattern invites you to explore colour, texture and rhythm. It gives you a reliable framework, while encouraging you to make creative choices along the way—so every sweater becomes a personal interpretation rather than a perfect copy.

The project began with a spontaneous collaboration with the wonderful team behind From White To. I instantly connected with their playful approach to colour and their beautifully hand-dyed yarns, and what started as a simple creative exchange soon turned into something much more meaningful. Together, we became curious about how the freedom and spontaneity of intuitive knitting could be translated into a clear, accessible pattern without losing the spirit of the original piece.

The first Pastel Crush sweater was never meant to become a pattern. I simply cast on a few pastel skeins with oversized 12 mm needles and started knitting without a sketch or a plan. Loose stitches, changing tension and textured loops gradually found their own rhythm, allowing the sweater to evolve naturally as I worked.

Turning that intuitive process into a fully graded pattern was only possible thanks to my brilliant tech editor, Marija Korać. She carefully reverse-engineered the original sweater into a pattern available in multiple sizes, preserving its organic character while creating clear, dependable instructions that guide you through every step.

Alongside the written instructions, you’ll find schematics, sizing tables and all the necessary calculations to make the process feel approachable and enjoyable. The structure is there when you need it—but there’s still plenty of room to experiment.

Mix colours. Try different fibres. Change the rhythm. Make it louder or quieter. Create your own canvas and your own interpretation.

All you need is basic knitting skills, chunky needles and a willingness to let go.

I hope Pastel Crush encourages you to trust your instincts, enjoy the process and discover just how liberating knitting can be when curiosity leads the way.
