This sweet little project combines lace and cables for a squishy, soft, and warm cowl. The six row pattern repeat is easy to remember and keeps the knitting from becoming boring. The garter stitch borders keep the project from curling. Yarn over buttonholes are easy to execute.

Although the Galler Alpaca yarn is listed as a DK, it works up more like a sport weight, so that is how I called it out for this pattern. Stitch gauge is not terribly important, so choose a yarn that gives a nice soft feel and opens up the lace. Knit the length you want.

9 ea. 5/8” buttons (larger buttons may be too heavy and droop)

Written directions. Optional chart for lace and cable pattern.
