This is a shawl based on a doily pattern designed by Anna Marie Jensen.

In the late 1940s, while Anna Marie Jensen was again in Denver on a private duty assignment, people started to notice her exceptional knitting. (A lady that attended a lecture I presented in 2000 commented from the audience that she recalled when she was a child she watched the “Lutheran nun” knit in a Denver park. Several attendees at my presentation given at the Scandinavian Festival in Estes Park told of similar experiences during the time she worked in Denver.) This was also when someone at F. W. Woolworth first took notice and approached her about publishing her knitted lace patterns. She named each pattern after Katherine and Glennis date from this time period.

The patterns she later designed were released as a series beginning in 1950 with Judy. Janet and Patricia in 1951, Meta and Nancy in 1952, Rona in 1953, Variations on Patricia and Sophia in 1954, Ingfred and Ingfred Square in 1955, Ruth, Ella, Lina and Margaret in 1957 all followed. Although it is labeled as the next in the series and bears the same Denver address as the others, Oline was released in 1962. However, this might have been designed after Anna Marie had permanently moved back to EbenEzer about 1960.
