I wrote this hat pattern after receiving numerous requests for it during the Olympics. US skier Julia Mancuso wore a hat like it after winning silver. In addition, there was a Proctor & Gamble commercial featuring many of these hats on kids.
Even though the gauge appears to be closer to sport weight, I used worsted weight yarn and knitted it as a tighter fabric. The ribbing in the hat has lots of positive ease so it can fit many heads, but when not stretched, the circumference is about 15 inches.
I used about 1/2 skein of the blue, and less of the cream and red.
The pattern includes carefully written instructions, as well as color graphs for the designs.
