A number of years ago, I started thinking about the comforting properties of stuffed animals. Young children are soothed by the touch and feel of their squishy friends, but I too, discovered the value of having a miniature companion with me on the days I just didn’t feel up to facing the world. I made Paul and started taking him with me whenever I left the house. He sat in my pocket, and when I felt stressed or anxious, I held him in the palm of my hand and gazed upon his supportive smile. And on the days I feel at my best, he’s still an awesome travel buddy!

Yarn:

  • Bernat Handicrafter Cotton Solids - scrap amounts of body and hat colour (or alternative worsted weight yarn)

Note: gauge is not important and yarn/needle size can be changed, resulting in a different finished product size. I recommend using the suggested needle size for your yarn to make the hat, and going down 2 sizes to make the body.

Needles:

  • 3.0 mm DPNs or circular needles (for magic loop)
  • 5.0 mm DPNs or circular needles (for magic loop)

Notions:

  • Darning needle
  • Embroidery needle and thread
  • Plastic Safety Eyes (optional)
  • Polyester stuffing
  • Poly pellets (or beans/rice) for weight

This pattern requires knowledge of:

  • Knitting in the round
  • Increasing and decreasing
  • Picking up stitches on amigurumi
  • Embroidering on knitted fabric

Errata:

  • Abbreviation list - Tbl: through the back loop
