Pawkies is a Scots word for mitts, or fingerless gloves. Pawkies are ideal for taking the chill off your hands on a brisk Autumn day, leaving your fingers free for picking mushrooms or blaeberries, or occasional hand-holds if you are heading high up into the hills There are two size options (small and large) and a stranded version is also available.

Buachaille (100% Scottish Wool; 110m / 120 yds per 50g skein)
MC: Squall 1 x 50g skein
CC: Ptarmigan 1 x 50g skein

Needles and notions

Gauge-size and below-gauge-size needles of your preferred type for working small circumferences. Small quantity of smooth waste yarn. Stitch marker. Tapestry needle.

Small size
26 sts and 29 rounds to 10cm / 4in over striped stockinette stitch using gauge-size needles. This was achieved using 3.5mm / UK 10-9 / US 4 needles.
Large size
23 sts and 26 rounds to 10cm / 4in over striped stockinette stitch using gauge-size needles. This was achieved using 3.75mm / UK 9 / US 5 needles.
