The Peak Reflections Shawl and Cowl pattern is a design in collaboration with Beth MacDonald Stone. The yarn was generously supplied by Jill at North Bay Fibers and is an absolute delight to work with.

The large crescent shawl and coordinating cowl are worked sideways, allowing the fabric to grow without there being too many stitches on your needles. In this design, sections of colour work are broken up by areas of stocking stitch and an icord along both edges provides a neat finish.

Yarn:
Shawl: 2 x 100g (850m) fingering weight yarn in two contrast colours plus 1 x 50g (420m) Suri Alpaca lace (held double).
Sample: The sample was knit using North Bay Fiber Elemental Fingering (100% Cormo, 425m/100g) in Beach Glass and Jack Pine and North Bay Fiber BayDrift (75% Baby Suri Alpaca / 25% Silk; 460 yd / 420 m per 50 g) in Sand Point.

Cowl: 2 x 50g (425m) fingering weight yarn in two contrast colours plus 1 x 25g (210m) Suri Alpaca Lace (held double)
Sample: The sample was knit using North Bay Fiber Elemental Fingering (100% Cormo, 425m/100g) in Sienna Sunset and Float and North Bay Fiber BayDrift (75% Baby Suri Alpaca / 25% Silk; 460 yd / 420 m per 50 g) in Sand Point.

Suggested Needles: US 5/3.75mm or needles required to get gauge. You may wish to go up a needle size for the colour work.
Gauge: 29 sts x 36 rows to 10cm/4” over stocking stitch unblocked. Gauge is less important in a shawl, however, if your gauge is looser than specified more yarn will be required.
Measurements: Shawl: approximately 200 cm/80” wingspan, 31.5cm/12.5” depth. Before blocking.
Cowl: 60cm/24” circumference 31.5cm/12.5” depth
