Just about any Category 1 - Super Fine (sock or fingering weight) yarn can be used in this design. Larger plus sizes may be created be using Category 2 - Fine (sport or baby weight) yarn although this idea has not been thoroughly tested. I have also worked out the modifications for the Category 1 weight yarn and posted that information on my blog.

I have been a thread crocheter almost since learning how to crochet some 40 years ago or so. I just love everything about thread. But occasionally I do wander away from thread, but not very far!

I’ve tried crocheting with bulky yarn and it felt just like trying to crochet rope to me! But a fingering/sock weight yarn is just perfect for me to step out of my usual box, even if only a little bit.

I did keep to a very traditional thread crochet motif though, the Pineapple. There is something about this series of stitches that is just timeless and elegant. And they aren’t hard to do at all- just a bit of careful counting is required. The majority of this design is single crochet and chain stitches, with a handful of double and triple crochets here and there. You CAN crochet it- honest!

This Design was featured in the Design Wars Challenge the week of Monday, May 11, 2015 and won!
