Peat shawl is a modern take on the traditional Icelandic triangular shawl. It alters the traditional triangle shape to create a more fitted silhouette that allows for easy movement, and the result is a “V” shape. It’s a perfect shawl to wear while carrying peat, or for walking to the park to draw sheep!

It is knit from the bottom up. The back piece is finished first, then each front flap is knit individually. Once complete, a crochet hook is used to create simple, tidy edge.

Material needed: 150g of lace weight yarn, 4.5 mm circular needles (45 cm or larger), 4.5 mm crochet hook, two place markers.

Stitches used: knit (on both wrong and right side), yarn over, knit 2 together, standard cast on and cast off. Single and double crochet stitch.
