About

One of my favorite places to go birding in the Texas Hill Country is at Pedernales Falls State Park. It has a magnificent bird blind where you maybe even get a glance at the endangered Golden-cheeked Warbler. While I love to go birding there, it is most famous for Pedernales Falls, a step waterfall that flows over tilted, limestone. To celebrate this feature of one of my favorite parks, I designed this poncho. The lace and dropped stitches represent the water of the falls that flows over the limestone, represented by the beads.

This shawl poncho is constructed first as two rectangles. The upper edge will then be sewn or crochet together to form the poncho, leaving a space for a neck hole. Additionally, a small section on each side will be sewn together to form arm holes. This poncho can be knit in only 1 color yarn or 2+ colors. It looks great in pretty much any yarn color such as variegated, semi-solid, tonal, gradient, solid, self-striping, etc! If using more than one color, carry up the non-working yarn through the i-cord edging.
