Stitches/Skills Used: k2tog, k3tog, M1L, M1R, p2tog, ssk (full explanation provided to create M1L, M1R and ssk stitches); kitchener stitch is used to graft cowl (links to photo and video tutorials provided).

Skill Level: Intermediate

Sizes: The cowl comes in one size but easily customizable. The mitts come in Small (up to 6.75” palm circumference), Medium (up to 7.75”) and Large (up to 8.75”). Directions are written for small version with changes for medium and large versions in parentheses.

Cowl Dimensions: 21.5” circumference and 7” in length from base to top.

Gauge: 26 stitches and 34 rows = 4 inches in Stockinette Stitch

Materials:

  • Size 3.75mm (US 5) circular needles (16” cable for in the round or at least 40” cable for magic loop or double pointed needles) or size to obtain gauge
  • Stitch markers (optional)
  • Tapestry needle

Yarn: approx. 280-320 yards Fingering weight yarn. Used in photos: Zen Yarn Garden Serenity 20 (Ginger Spice)
