Penarth Pier Shawl
The beautiful Victorian cast iron railings on Penarth
Pier in South Wales inspired the lace pattern in this
lightweight and summery wrap.
MATERIALS
● West Yorkshire Spinners
Exquisite 4ply,
80% Falkland wool/
20% mulberry silk,
100g/400m/437yds
Yarn A: Chantilly 0010
x 2 balls
Yarn B: Naples 1129 x 1 ball
● 3.5mm & 4mm hooks
YARN ALTERNATIVES
Any 4ply-weight wool or wool
blend yarn would be suitable
for this project.
TENSION
Work two lace pattern
repeats/16tr and one whole
section repeat (Rows 2–13
inclusive) to measure
approximately 8 x 8cm/
3¼ x 3¼in after blocking using
a 4mm hook, or size required
to obtain tension.
MEASUREMENTS
Wrap measures 180cm/70¾in
long by 40cm/15¾in wide
after blocking.
