PENELOPE POLAR BEAR MITTENS

A beginner’s knitting pattern for this sweet pair of mittens, perfect for keeping little hands warm and toasty in the colder months. These are quick and easy to make and minimal in their design. I’ve gone for monochrome and used grey for knitting the hand, but you could use any colour. I’d love to see how the little bears look against some different shades so do please send me a photo so I can see!

Includes a free Knitting Techniques Guide which explains all the techniques you need to know and includes access to my online video tutorials so you can learn to knit as you go along.

The mittens are worked flat on straight needles from the bottom up and then seamed together at the end. The polar bear is added using duplicate stitch. This means the mittens are knit in plain grey with a block of white at the top of the mitten. The bear’s ears, eyes and nose are then embroidered over the top of the plain stitches at the end. Sizes 0-6M and 6-12M are thumbless and sizes 1-2Y and 2-3Y include thumbs. The mitten top is shaped using mirrored decreases for a professional finish. All of these techniques are explained in the guide and shown in my video tutorials.
