You may use any yarn to make this toy, just make sure to use correct hook size with your yarn.

You will need following or similar materials (for the penguin in beige tones):

1. Yarn:

• 1 skein beige Dolphin Baby 80373
• 1/3 skein milk-colored Wolans 02
• A small amount of orange Dolphin Baby 80316 yarn for the feet and beak
• Yarn for the hat and scarf: Gazzal Baby Cotton XL, color No. 3434 — one skein was enough for the hat and scarf
• Yarn for the pom-poms: white Alize Softy, worked with 2 strands
  1. Safety eyes — 18 mm
  2. Hook size 3.5 mm for the penguin; 4 mm for the hat and scarf
  3. Polyester fiberfill stuffing
  4. Yarn needle with a large eye for sewing
  5. Thin black thread for embroidering the eyebrows
  6. Strong cotton thread for tightening

You will only need basic crocheting skills to make this pattern:

Invisible decrease
Chain stitch
Slip stitch
Basic sewing skills to assemble all the parts together
