Penny Purse

This bag has incredible structure, tons of room and just enough pockets making it the perfect purse for every day use! The two-tone exterior is right on trend and the crocheted handles are sturdy and durable thanks to the rope hidden inside!

Although there are plenty of photo tutorials to help with the steps, this is an Intermediate pattern due to the construction of the bag, stitches used and different kinds of finishing.

This pattern makes an 11” x 14” purse.
You will need:

  • 1674 yards of worsted weight cotton. I used Lion Brand Yarn 24/7 Cotton. 4 skeins of Taupe and 5 skeins of Tangerine.
  • G (4mm) hook
  • Tapestry Needle
  • measuring tape
  • 3 sheets of 10.5” x 13.5” plastic canvas
  • 7” zipper
  • 18” zipper
  • 4 Bag Handle Loops
  • 2 x 14” lengths of 3/8” rope (for handles) OR ready made purse handles
  • 4 x 15mm base nails (optional
