The Pentagon Fade Brioche Beanie is an adult sized hat pattern for those with familiarity with brioche knitting, while still being approachable for new brioche knitters. The majority of this beanie is knit in brioche stockinette stitch, where all right side stitches are knit, which gives the appearance of normal stockinette with stranded colorwork, but allows the material to retain its stretchiness. The brioche stitches needed for this pattern are brioche knit, brioche purl, brioche left slanting decrease, and one special stitch which has both written and video instructions.

Yarn

Each of the four colors can be DK weight or fingering weight held double. The samples used DK as the main color and fingering weight held double for the contrast colors, but feel free to mix and match from mini skeins or your stash.

Main color: DK weight, 30g
Contrast Color 1: DK or fingering weight held double, 10g
Contrast Color 2: DK or fingering weight held double, 10g
Contrast Color 3: DK or fingering weight held double, 10g

If you’re substituting worsted weight yarn for the contrast colors, it is recommended to have at least 15g of each color. For the slightly longer version of the hat with the added rows in Section 3, it is recommended to have 2-3 extra grams of material for the main color and contrast colors. This is may be an overestimation of the length required for my personal knitting gauge, but if your gauge tends to be looser, be sure to have some extra material on hand.
