I know that my fondness for working stranded work flat is an aberration. Since the topic for the Learn Something New! article is about knitting backwards, I though a stranded pattern worked flat would make a nice project.

I designed the flower pattern for the Decoration Day several years ago in honor of my mother, who loved peonies; I wanted to use it again. This top is worked sideways, and the center panel, using a provisional cast on, is worked first. Then the left side of the top is worked in the main color to the side. Stitches from the provisional cast on are transferred to the needle and the right side is completed. The front and the back are identical.
